WI&M Locomotive #66 | |
![]() WI&M #66 sits in the Tacoma, Washington yard after being sold to Glacier Sand and Gravel of Steilacoom, Washington in this undated photograph (most likely taken in the mid-1960s). #66 was an Alco HH660 (B/N 69089, 660 HP) originally owned by the Minneapolis & St. Louis Ry. and numbered D939. #66 was acquired by the WI&M in September 1956, and made its final run on the WI&M in March 1964. Please Note: Despite the blue appearance of the locomotive in the above picture, there is a question about the actual color of the locomotive. Some sources have indicated that the locomotive may have been black, and that the blue color in the picture is due to a combination of the age of the slide from which that picture was created and the weathering of the locomotives paint. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can provide a definitive answer to this question. Related InformationSpecial thanks to Ken Secrest for making this photograph available.
