On the cover of this album is a close-up photo of Jackie, showing mostly her face.
1. Put A Little Love In Your Heart (2:34) - The tempo is swing and slightly slower than moderate. A guitar strums each time the drums beat. Other instruments include a piano, violins, and horns. After the chorus is sung the second time, the key changes from D to E. The narrator tells everyone that a loving heart is the key to improving the world. To me, this is Jackie's greatest hit.
2. I Can Make It With You (2:25) - This slow song opens with some chimes and horns. A string quartet enters later. Life was black and bleak for the narrator until the man came into her life. Now that he's with her, she can survive.
3. Needles And Pins (2:37) - This song was also a hit for a male group known as the Searchers. Jackie's version has a moderate swing tempo. The guitar joins the drums in accenting every second and fourth beat. The key begins at C, then after the bridge changes to E. When the narrator sees the man, she knows she must resist him because to love him would only hurt her like those sharp objects. Still, she finds it difficult to resist him. (Note: the Searchers' version is the one to whose lyrics I link the title; Jackie used masculine pronouns instead of feminine ones.)
4. Brighton Hill (2:17) - This song, also with a moderate swing tempo, opens with a 2-measure piano solo. Horns are also featured. The hill is depicted as a paradise on earth, featuring many wonders including yellow flowers and a sky that changes colors.
5. The Weight (3:00) - This slow song opens with a brief guitar solo; then drums and a piano enter. Among the backup voices here, I hear at least one male voice. I also have a version of this song by Aretha Franklin.
6. What The World Needs Now Is Love (3:05) - Jackie's second-greatest hit has a waltz tempo and starts and ends with a horn solo that is low both in tone and in volume. The narrator believes that the world does not need any more mountains, hills, oceans, rivers, or other material objects. She prays that there will be love not just for some people, but for all people.
7. Come Stay With Me (3:03) - This slow song opens with a 10-second guitar solo. After the first verse, a piano and an organ enter; the organ gradually becomes more audible. The narrator tells the man that she will abandon false pride and lies, keep all the promises she makes, and be faithful to him, if he will move into her home as her companion. Every time Jackie sings the title, she inserts "and" between the first two words.
8. Holly Would (3:04) - This song, even slower than the previous song, also features a guitar as the main instrument. During the first verse, chimes ring on every first beat; after the first verse, a piano enters. Holly lived a modest lifestyle. She treated everyone nicely, and everyone treated her nicely in return. My favorite part of this song is the title, a pun on the name of the movie capital of the world.
9. Love Will Find A Way (2:38) - The opening drum rolls and horns match the optimistic mood of this moderate-tempoed song. A piano is also featured. The narrator and her boyfriend suffer one difficulty after another, and it seems they are pursuing dreams that can't come true, but she assures him that someday love will win.
10. When You Walk In The Room (2:37) - The tempo is moderately fast. The guitar licks are the highlight of this song. Other instruments include a string quartet and a percussion that makes rolling clicks. Every time the narrator sees the man, she gets excited and imagines that he wants her for his girlfriend. When singing the title, Jackie substitutes "every time that" for "when."
