BOARD
BUSINESS
Welcome to our new Board member Lauren Koss who
moves to the Board from many years as the Rollandet Garden
co-coordinator. Lauren has been a vital part of the IFCGA community
since she registered as our FIRST community gardener in 1995! We
look forward to her enthusiastic involvement on the Board.
A big thank you to our first-time
Rollandet Garden Coordinators, Nancy Lujan and Pat Crosby.
They have ably guided the Rollandet garden through
another gardening season and a successful run at regaining their 1st
place position in the Garden Contest. Our Westside coordinators,
Ann O'Hagan and Dana Swift, and our Eastside coodinator, Alan Croft,
and his assistant, Sherrie Lundgren, have also made tremendous
contributions at their respective gardens, continuing to do the most
important job in our organization with dedication and enthusiasm.
Thanks to you all!
It's people like these
that keep us growing - let us
know if you'd like to be a part of our growing
team! letsgrow@srv.net or (208)524-0383.
MEETINGS
IFCGA Board meetings occur monthly. Please contact us
for dates and times.
Rollandet
takes First Place!
All the gardens were beautiful and bountiful by the time of
the
judging for the annual garden contest in August.
Eastside had made tremendous strides and Westside was brimming with
lovely gardens and beautiful produce but the 1st place
award was back in the hands of the dedicated and determined Rollandet
gardeners. Congratulations! Now we're
all off and running towards another spectacular season. Some of
the gardeners had such fun last season making not-very-surreptitious
'reconnaisance missions' to evaluate the progress of the competing
gardens that we decided to formalize the inter-garden visits with
a Progressive
Hors d'oeuvres Garden Tour.
Watch this page
for our tour date this year and join us as we visit the gardens and
enjoy garden-grown goodies.
Gardener of the Year awards
for 2009
Each year the garden coordinators are
faced with the difficult task of selecting a gardener who made a
special contribution to their respective gardens. It was an especially
difficult choice this year because each of the gardens was blessed with
a whole crop of active, dedicated, truly community gardeners. But
the GCs bit the bullet, made their selections, and those gardeners
received special recognition at the Harvest Potluck celebration in late
September. Congratulations to the winners and our thanks to all those
other hard-working gardeners
who made the choice so challenging!
