 Information
for this web site has been ongoing in some form or another for
roughly nine years. At this point, it is difficult to attribute
where specific details or information came from. The simple act
of buying so many pieces over the years, and hanging onto all
the variations gives a broad base of reference. Conversations
with countless Hartland collectors further adds to the topic.
Hartland printed dozens, and probably hundreds, of pieces of
different literature, tags, boxes, sales information, invoices,
and brochures. While I have some originals and some photocopies,
there simply has to be a bunch more of it out there.
In addition, there has been a lot of information printed on
the subject. Probably the most prolific writer has been Gail
Fitch from Milwaukee, Wisconsinnot that far from the place
where all the magic happened. Her research was the source for
her first book printed in 1983 with a follow up a few years later.
She also produced a newsletter during 1995 and 1996 which was
dedicated to Hartlands. In addition, Gail wrote a group of articles
for several of the toys and collectible market magazines, some
of which I have read. Again, others have read the early books
and have used some of her information in their articles which
I also could have read. Certainly, some of the information at
this site was absorbed from those sources and at least influences
parts of this site. An occasional note on some of the pages refer
to historic photos that she presents in her books.
A current source of information is also available from Gail
in a new book called Hartland Horsemen & Gunfighers.

While this page is already getting to feel like a speech at
the Academy Awards, let me just thank everybody who has shared
any information with me over the years. The list below can never
be complete, but I will try to add information about the sources
as I stumble across them.
