Newsletter
Corvettes of Southeast Idaho
www.srv.net/~csei/csei.htm
As usual, everyone who attended our show in West Yellowstone, the Wild West
Vette Fest-99, had a great time. The weather was semi-co-operative with evening
showers, but beautiful days. We had roughly 100 cars in attendance. Not too
bad considering the National Corvette Caravan to Bowling Green Kentucky was
only 1 week away. Next year, Bev and I will be the chair-persons for the
Wild West Vette Fest -2K. We are encouraging all new members and anyone else
who has not been on a committee to come forward and help out. It is a great
way to meet the people, and a wonderful way to help out the club. We will
be asking some of you to be the co-chairs for next year. In this position,
you learn how the show is put together so you can be the chair-persons the
next year. It is a great opportunity and it really does help out.
On to other fun and exciting things. We have MOVED!!! However, we are still
missing the data disk, so here is yet another shoddy newsletter. Well, it
would have been shoddy if Bev hadn't stepped in and helped out so much. Next
month, our old editor, Jim Thompson will be taking over again. Thanks Jim,
this really is a lot of work and I at least will be verrrrry appreciative.
By the time you get this newsletter, we will be en-route to Bowling Green.
Our club is sending 5 cars to the 5th anniversary of the National
Corvette Museum. It promises to be a great time! Four days of caravanning
with other corvettes from the Pacific Northwest and Midwest to arrive in
Bowling Green on September 3rd. There we will spend Labor Day
Weekend with thousands of other Corvette enthusiasts as we celebrate Americas
only true sports car. From there, the 5 will probably split up and take different
routes back home. Bev and I are planning on jaunting down to New Orleans
to eat, drink, and be merry.
This months meeting will be at the new Leo's Place on 1st Street.
It will be on Friday, September 17th, at 7:00 pm. Very informal,
but we should start planning our Christmas Party. Be thinking of where you
would like to have your party. If you have any issues or ideas you want brought
up, feel free to call and let me know.
As always...
August Birth Days
We've finally moved in, but can't f ind that little disk that has all the
wonderful information on it yet. Happy Birthday to everyone having a birthday
this month.
We meet at the Broadway Dairy Queen on the fist and third Thursdays during
the summer months. Hope to see you there. Dairy Queen has been giving us
a free shake with the purchase of a value meal.

DID YOU KNOW,
by Egon
Some of us remember 50 years back (Right Marvin) and some may think they
know. I have come up with a little quiz that I think you may want to test
the brain cells on automobiles. 50+ names of new cars now flood the market,
however, do you remember some that have "bit the dust" ?
I have came up with 22, I am sure that there are many I have missed, but
for the fun of it lets see how many you can name. No cheating looking on
the last page until you have thought of all you know.
By the way a standards car in 1949 was $2000, twenty five years later $4000
now 50 years later $50,000+ for some.
Well its over for another year, and what a great success. We didn't have
as many cars this year, but I think every one had a wonderful time. We even
had a surprise. Ben and Claudia Sanchez arranged their time in America this
year to be at the same time as the Wild West Vette Fest. Everyone was surprised
and happy to seem them.
This years chair people were Terry & Kelly Armstong. Bev & Brian
Novak were the co chairs this year. We want to thank every one who worked
really hard to make this show a success!!! A BIG THANK YOU.

Boy that took a lot of room, but we have many great sponsors. They keep on
sponsoring us every year, so tell them thanks if you ever see them.
We are already receiving email from the people who were there. Here is an
email we received from one of the participants to the Wild West Vette Fest.
Hi, Just wanted to thank you all for the wonderful time in West Yellowstone.
We enjoyed ourselves and couldn't ask for more friendly folks to spend a
weekend playing with our cars with!! : ) The band was terrific and hope you
can get a repeat for next year!! Hopefully with no big show in Kentucky we
can bring along a few more cars from Colorado next year. We will be back
for sure so see you then.
Our complements for a class act and a great club. sincerely, Bob and Helen
Pittington, Loveland Co
One of our members son has sadly passed away. Steve and Karen Hansen's only
son died August 26th in Idaho Falls. Some of you may own cars
that Destry worked on, he was a car enthusiast just like the rest of us.
Steve and Karen have been members for a very long time, but have been very
busy for the last few years. Some of the new members may not know Steve and
Karen, but they are very kind and friendly people. Our prayers are with Steve
and Karen.
Dennis and Pam Gratton were unable to make the show this year and were greatly
missed. We hope the best for you Pam, and hope you are getting better.
Jan Knight also missed our show due to surgery. Hope you are feeling better
also, Jan.
Well about seven cars will be on their way to Bowling green when you get
this newsletter. Five are actually going, and two are going for a little
ways. We hope you have fun. We'll expect an article for the news letter from
the group that has gone.
Jim Thompson, our old editor, has kindly offered his services again to do the news letter. Starting next month, Please send your articles to Jim. I'll find
out his email address. THANKS JIM.
