Hail from the Chief

by Brian Novak

As you can tell by this spiffy newsletter, we are STILL in the hotel. Supposedly we'll be moving in two weeks. Anybody seen the movie "The Money Pit"? On to some fun stuff.

August will be a very busy month. We have the Wild West Vette Fest, a fun fast paced meeting at Hiesey Hot Springs (Aug 15), and we'll be leaving for Bowling Green with the National Corvette Caravan. We also need a few people to be on Channel 8 news "Backyard" show. Meet at Channel 8 news at 4:00-4:30 pm on Monday, Aug 16th.

We've been a very active group this summer, and I want to thank you for your support. This month we had a contingent at Boise Vette Fest, Iona Days, and Boomers Audio Car Show. Keep up the good work and Save the Wave!!.

August Birth Days

We still haven't moved in yet so we haven't found the disk. Happy Birthday to everyone having a birthday this month.

Don't Forget Dairy Queen

We meet at the Broadway Dairy Queen on the fist and third Thursdays during the summer months. Hope to see you there. Dairy Queen has been giving us a free shake with the purchase of a value meal.

August's Meeting

We'll meet at Pic-Nic shelter #1 on August 15th at Heisey Hot Springs. We'll start at about 10:00 a.m. and go until whenever. There is a pizza parlor, golf, and pools. We'll bring a grill, but we could probably use another. Bring something to cook, or enjoy the food available there. If you want to golf, it is advisable to call for Tee-times. They will take times one week in advance.

DID YOU KNOW, by Egon

I know we have several 84 thru 96 cars with squeaky roof panels, Connie's included. Now this drives some of us NUTS. Well I have found a solution and now I see the product in Mid American catalog. Even the Corvette factory made a production fix starting in 92.

The problem is the contact points where the screws that attach the roof are. The kit from Mid America is 13 bucks, however just some felt fabric glued on will solve the problem. Install some padding on both rear corners and up front on the edge. If you want to know the exact location look in the Mid America catalog. It worked for me.

Another item that GM has had problems with is the Alternator on late models. Bearings was one thing. I would suggest that , say once a year you slip the belt off and spin the alternator and listen and feel for a rough bearing. It's a lot better to change these out BEFORE they go completely bad than buy a complete alternator. Some bearings last forever some go bad at about 70,000 miles.

One other item, about once a year it is good to add a can of antifreeze water pump lub to the radiator, then make a complete anti freeze change about every three years.

If you have ever changed a water pump in some remote location, you will be glad you took some precaution.

What a great time at the Wild Women Weekend. There were eight corvette club women who enjoyed the Phantom of the Opera and a belly hurting laughter time at Mullboon's. Bev's mom, Dorothy, and her sister Christy joined the group also. Seven of the ladies caravanned down Saturday morning, Bev and her family went down the day before to do a little shopping. Thanks for watching the kids Brian. Linda Olsen and Wanda Pincock sure let down their hair when their husbands aren't around. I think we embarrassed the waitress and waiter a couple of times. Thanks to Connie for organizing such a wonderful weekend and for Chris for making the motel reservations.

Wild West Vette Fest

Calling all members. We need your support for the show. We would like to have as many of our own members at the show this year that can possibly make it. Come join us it is a great time. We are requesting door prizes from our club members. Any donation would be appreciated. Please give your door prize to Terry & Kelly Armstrong or Bev & Brian Novak.

Iona days were a success.

Ten corvettes showed up for the first annual Iona Days Car show. They also had fifteen other cars show up. It sounds like it was a great success Betty & Lynn. Thank you for everyone who supported this show.
