Minutes of the August 2003  Meeting

by Barbara Bell

The August meeting of Corvettes of South East Idaho was held at JJ North in Idaho Falls Wednesday August 13th at 7 PM. There were 36 members in attendance.

Ron Bone talked about the next trip for the club. We will go to Cody Wyoming. After some discussion, it was decided to take the trip September 12-14. Contact Ron for more information.

Thor Miller presented the club with the participation trophy from the Boise Show. We had 10 cars go over.

Thor also presented Marvin Bennett the highway cleanup sign with Corvettes of South East Idaho on it, complete with a few roadside "treasures". Marv was

instrumental in getting the club to do the project. We cleaned that section for 10 years prior to this year when the club opted out, so the state took down our sign.

We have 118 registrations for the Wild West Vette Fest. We should receive more, as well as onsite registrations. Wayne needs good participation from the club members to make the show a success. If anyone has some time and interest in helping, please see Wayne. Wayne reported that the committee had worked really hard getting things ready, and there is a lot of potential to make a good profit this year, especially with the raffles. We have some really nice items that should spark a lot of interest. We will just need to get out and sell tickets during the show. The items will be raffled off Sunday morning.

Wayne also asked all who were coming up to extend themselves and be friendly and excited to have the people come to the show. There will be a trophy given for the club who has the most fun. It will be a traveling trophy. Most of all, Wayne urged all members to come up and enjoy the weekend.

The 6th of September was tentatively set as the day we will go around and thank all the sponsors of the Vette Fest. We will probably do a poker run. There will be more about that later.

Everyone was invited to Taylor Chevrolet's classic car show on the 16th of August. Karl Malone's truck will be at Bell Builders on that day as well.

The next meeting was set for September 17th at Wingers at 7 PM.

 Meeting adjourned at 8:15

Sponsor Poker Run

We are planning a Sponsor Poker Run, to show our thanks for their support, on September 6, 2003.  We will start at Me n' Stan's in Rexburg.  You can come have breakfast at 8:00 a.m. or just meet us before 9:30a.m. We will visit about six stops in Rexburg.  Main Street and 2nd East have recently been chipped, so we will stay off it.  If you are coming from the south, take the first Rexburg exit and that should keep you off it.  Then we will go to Big Jud's in Archer for lunch.  Then on to Idaho Falls for four more stops ending up at Iceberg's for a snack. We should be done by 3:00 or so.  Please let us know if you can make it so we can reserve tables at the restaurants.  Hope to see you there.  Remember, this is a Poker Run, and the best hand will receive movie tickets.  Should be fun!

Thanks Extended

Thanks to everyone's help, the show last weekend is over!  Whew! It was a little wild at times but everyone hopefully had a good time.  After most of the bills have been paid we should have about $5500.   We should know more as soon as all receipts are in.    The raffle turned out to be a pretty good moneymaker for us.  We made around $2040.

Thanks a heap to Tommy Taylor for all the work he put in on the raffles and for all the contributors of the raffles.  It couldn't be done without everyone's willingness to help.  Everyone there went the extra mile in all they did and we thank all of you.  Just a reminder about the Sponsor Poker Run on Saturday, September 6, the Sponsors made it all possible.  Thank you all.

Wayne & Pam Valentine
