Hail from the Chief
By Lynn McKinlay
Matt and Bonnie Jones joined us in August at
Wingers. Also new to our club are Jared and Eilene
Sessions from Island Park and James Ward of Idaho Falls.
Our sponsorship is getting larger. We will not experience growth without
change. We are willing to change but with caution. That is part of what makes
our club so great.
There is a copy of the bylaws in this month's newsletter. The bylaws are
the governing instrument that governs this club. Read them, study them, and
make sure they will allow you as a great body of people to grow and achieve
what you desire. You have the tools; it is your club, where do you want it
to go?
You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself.

I have watched Richard run the last several meetings for the Car Show. I
take my hat off to Richard for a great job underway. This newsletter is being
written before the show, but I am looking forward to a great show. Thank
you Richard.
As you can see from the Calendar of Events, in this newsletter,
we will have elections of officers in January. As you can see in the Bylaws,
in this newsletter, there is a Nominating Committee. It is appointed by the
executive officers. If you have any aspirations in these areas do not hold
back. Let me know of your desires.
New short-notice items.

Meyer parking lot at 6 p.m. We will travel to Blackfoot for

What a Guy!
Good Morning Lynn and Friends,
Unfortunately Judy and I will be unable to attend this year's Vette
Fest. I just canceled my reservation at the Grey Wolf, should you know
of someone needing a room, as they were sold out. I have prepaid the registration
for the event. If you will, please use this money as a Donation/Sponsorship
in any way you see fit. I will coordinate the 10 donated 15# gift boxes of
spuds I lined up, so they will be there with the prizes.
Thanks,
Wayne Ramsey

WILD WEST VETTE FEST 2001
By Richard and Debbie Morris,
Chairpersons 2001
The Wild West Vette Fest was a great success this
year. We had 134 cars registered for the show. The weather was perfect and
the National Park Service cooperated by having a free day through the park.
Through the hard work and dedication of the committee chairpersons, this
show ran smoothly and without any glitches. We would like to thank all of
these people -- when you see them please tell them how you feel about the
hard work they did for the show.
REGISTRATION: Dick and Trish Bargman. Thank you for
all the hours of communicating and computer work you put into this show.
Without your hard work, it wouldn't have gone off. Trish did all the
correspondence, mailing, copying, phone calling, emailing, and computer work
for this show.
T-SHIRTS: Bev and Brian Novak. Thank you for the
hard job of trying to guess how many shirts to order for resale. It is a
hard job because the shirt carries the logo and sponsors, so trying to figure
out what will work and sell is a hard job. They succeeded though because
everyone loved them, and most were sold.
POKER RUN: Ron and Peggy Bone. Thank you for all
the hours of driving back and forth trying to figure out the route for the
poker run. We heard lots of compliments on the drive up to Big Sky and everyone
loved the trivia questions. It was the Bone's first time to help out with
the Fest and they did a great job on organizing
this event.
TROPHIES AND JUDGING: Bill and Carol Merrell. Thank
you for making the hard decision on which type of trophy to have this year
and organizing the judging committee. Trying to keep track of which trophies
to order for which class and keeping track of judging each class and all
the places is not an easy task. You did it well.
DASH PLAGUES AND HAT PINS: Todd and Pam Packer. Thank
you for the great job of getting the logo on something so small; that is
no small task. This was the Packer's first time with the
Fest also and they did a great job figuring out
how to get the logo in the format that was needed.
DRIVING EVENT: Mike and Wanda Pincock and
all their kids. Thank you for staying out in the sun all day without
any breaks to bring this event off. Everyone enjoys testing their driving
skills and smoking their tires. This is always fun to do and watch and you
do a great job coming up with ideas for this event.
FOOD: Pam and Wayne Valentine. Thank you for the
hard job of trying to guess how much everyone will consume in food and beverages
for the three days. You did a great job because we had enough but not much
left over this year. This is a never-ending job because there are three different
meals on three different days to plan for. The Valentine's never stop working
the whole weekend. They were either setting up or taking down all the time.
PR AND MUSIC: Egon Lamprecht. Thank you for getting
our show out on the airwaves and news. The advertising really brings out
the people and you contacted a lot of media this year. Also, the DJ for the
dance was great this year. It takes a lot of time to contact all of these
people.
PARADE AND CAR SHOW: Marv and Mary Kay Bennett. Thank
you for contacting the Corvette parts suppliers for door prizes, for the
advertising on TV, and the paper, and especially for organizing the parade
and car show. The Bennetts had to work closely with the town of West Yellowstone,
the police, and the Chamber of Commerce to put on the parade without interfering
with the daily routine of the town. You always line up the cars and keep
the parade moving so smoothly. Parking the cars for the car show, you direct
them quickly to their places like you were a traffic cop in your past life.
SPONSORS: Upper Valley: Sam and Janet Miller
Lower Valley: Randy and Joyce Wagner
Thank you for contacting businesses and persons to sponsor our show. Without
your hard work and salesmanship in selling our show for sponsorship, we would
not be able to put on this show. This is the job no one wants to do but you
have been able to do it very successfully and for this we are very grateful.
Thank You:
Wanda Pincock for the beautiful quilt that was raffled off,
Terri and Kelly Armstrong for the use of their motor home
and Kelly for announcing, Rich and Linda Moore, our co-chairs
for being able to bounce ideas off of and helping out where they were needed,
Ben and Claudia Sanchez for the beautiful Italian inlay to be raffled,
Darlene Davidson for our logo, and
Frank Smith for his time and knowledge on the Corvette Musuem.
Thank you for putting your trust in us to be your chairpersons for this show.
We had a lot of fun and it was a very rewarding experience to work with such
a great group. We turn the reins over to Rich and Linda Moore for the
Chairpersons for Wild West Vette Fest 2002. We
know they will do a great job; please support them as you did us.

Important Instructions!
The loop the Corvette club will travel September 16 is about
250 miles long. Lunch will be in Soda Springs. Do not park behind
the restaurant during lunch. The chemicals from the geyser can leave spots
on your car. Park on street in front, or we can park in the drug store parking
lot. The geyser erupts every hour on the hour.
We will meet in Swan Valley at 10 a.m. at the corner of Highways 26 and 31.
There is a gas station and convenience store there. If you can't find room
to park, park in the Sub Shop's parking lot next to the gas station of highway

Dear Richard & Debbie,
We are members of the Valley Corvette Club in Boise and were one of 12
cars from our club to attend the Wild West Vette Fest in West Yellowstone
last weekend. We had such a great time that we wanted to thank you
for 'a job well done.' We watched the 'yellow T-shirts' working hard
each day to make sure this event was a success...and it certainly was! It
was our first time at your Vette Fest. We made a last minute decision
to go, mainly because of the positive feedback from other club members who
had been there previous years. They told us it was fun, relaxing, and
beautiful country. It was all that and more. We had the opportunity
to meet some wonderful people, view some beautiful cars, and enjoy four days
of sunshine.
There were a few things that I felt made your club stand out. It
was very impressive how you incorporated this year's logo on everything;
shirts, dash plaques, pins, registration forms, name tags, award plaques,
etc. I also noticed the magnetic name tags with the Corvettes of Southeast
Idaho logo that members of your club were wearing. It was a nice touch
to include a notepad in each registration packet with your logo on it, too.
I think it's important that you know that your efforts were noticed
and appreciated. We are spreading the word that the Wild West Vette Fest
is an event that shouldn't be missed and we're looking forward to being there
next year.
We own the 1999 White C5 Coupe with "99 Ghost" plates that was awarded
a plaque for sponsors choice by Real Estate by Archibald. We would
like to send a thank you note to them for choosing our car, but we don't
know the address. Would it be possible for you to send us that
information?
When we arrived back in Boise and unpacked, we noticed that the dash plaque you put in our registration packet was missing. If you have any extra left over, we would certainly appreciate having one. We'd be happy to reimburse you for mailing the plaque to us. We look forward to seeing you next August and perhaps at other Corvette functions that take place before then.
