Hail from the Chief

By Trish Bargman

Well it’s that time again. Yes it is time to go for rides, get something to eat, walk around the cars and kick the tires, get back in the car and drive some more. All this starts Friday, May 4th. We will have the privilege of driving the DARE kids to school, and then delivering the license plate money. We start at the Bowlero; be there by 7:30 and they will feed you breakfast; if you are just coming to drive a student be there by 7:50 am. We will take the kids from the Bowlero to Theresa Bunker Elementary and drop them off. From there we will go to Fox Hollow Elementary, pick the kids up and take them for a short ride, and then back to school. We have a police escort during this event so we can double up and have two kids in the cars if necessary, but hopefully we will have enough cars to handle this. Wayne Campbell has also lined up a Hummer stretch limo and some classic cars to help out. We really need to know the number of cars that can participate so please get back to me 458-4671

After we leave Fox Hollow I hope a lot of you will be able to help deliver the license plate money to The Haven in Idaho Falls, the Family Crisis Center in Blackfoot, and then up to Rexburg to the Family Crisis Center there. Each one of these charities will be getting a check for $3,000.00.

When I called and talked to the directors of each of these organizations they were stunned at the amount we are able to give them. We will hopefully have some media coverage for this. I know that the Family Crisis Centers said they would have the local newspapers there and we may have TV coverage also. An interesting side note is May is Family Abuse Awareness month, so the timing is good.

I thought I was doing so well at the meeting and had talked about everything that was important. As soon as we got home I realized that we did not set a time or place for the next meeting! We had set the second Thursday of the month for a regular meeting date, there was some conflicts, but I think that for most it works, so we will try it for at least in May. So the May meeting will be May 10th and be at the 5 & Diner in Idaho Falls at 7:00 pm.

We also didn’t talk about what to do on the first and third Thursdays. Where do we want to go? Sonic in Idaho Falls and Rexburg never really caught on, did it? Dairy Queen on Broadway is closed and never really caught on either. Scotty’s has been the best draw even with the bad pavement and lack of ‘facilities’. So what do you think about Scotty’s and start the third Thursday? We can really decide at the meeting on the 11th, but if you can’t make it to the meeting and don’t hear any different, we will see you on the 17th, 6:30 pm at Scotty’s. We’ll see if we can hit them up for free ice cream or something.

As I look at the paid members there are still some old friends that I don’t see on the list. I hope that it is an oversight on their part and we see them on the next membership list. I’m sure that you don’t want to miss out on these exciting newsletters, so get those dues in!

There are some day drives in the works, ladies lunches coming up, some date nights also. Don’t forget about the Montana show

also. Don’t forget about the Montana show over Memorial Day weekend in Missoula, the Twin Falls show June 23 & 24, and of course our Wild West Vette Fest in West Yellowstone.  I’m glad that summer is here and we can get out and enjoy the cars and each others good company. See you Friday morning at the Bowlero.
