The Prez Box
by Ron Bone
We’ve had our fair share of
noisy meetings, but I think that most who were there would agree that our April
monthly meeting at Big Jud’s broke new ground.
A birthday party in the adjacent room competed deafeningly for every
audible wavelength, ensuring that no one heard a majority of what was
said. Hopefully, our meeting at Betty’s
in May will be more conducive to discussion.
We’re looking forward to a brief presentation on the race track being
built west of Blackfoot, which will offer opportunities for off-road autocross
and drag racing.
New members Dave and Lee
Robertson survived their noisy initiation at Big Jud’s. They hearken from Rigby and bring with them a
1992 coupe, their first Corvette. We’re
glad to have them, so be sure to make their acquaintance and welcome them to
the club when you get the chance.
A couple of events by other
clubs are now on the radar screen: Cruise to the Sky 2005 at
Also coming up on May 16 is
our drive for the D.A.R.E. student graduation.
It’s a hoot to celebrate what these kids have accomplished by giving
them what is probably their first ride in a Corvette. This time it will be in the evening, so it
should be easier to have a good turnout.
We’ll need good support to get the number of cars needed, so please seriously
consider making time for this. Wayne
Campbell will announce the details soon.
Finally, the sponsor drive is
coming along nicely, as you can see by the list in this newsletter. If you haven’t approached someone yet, don’t
forget that the member who raises the most money this year will take home
$100. There are still many prospects out
there, so don’t get left out! Contact me
if you need sponsor letters to take with you.
Minutes of the April Meeting
by Peggy Bone
The monthly meeting was held April 21 at Big Jud’s in Archer. There were twenty-five members present. Ron Bone called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. Ron acknowledged the April birthdays and introduced new members Dave and Lee Robertson.
Ron stated that he had submitted the names of the charities nominated last month for the Corvette license plate money donations to Valley Corvettes for approval. The checks should arrive in two or three weeks. A show of hands indicated that members want to caravan and deliver the checks to each charity like we did last year.

Ron reminded everyone that members who have not paid their dues are overdue and will no longer receive newsletters.

Did You
Know
By Egon
It’s a nice day so you
decide to take a little ride. You stop by the filling station for fuel and away
you go.
About 20 miles down the road you
spot a traffic cop checking speeds. You glance down at the speedometer just to
be sure you are not speeding, this time. When you do, you see the “check engine
“light is on. Oh no, not on my car you think.
If your car is a late model Vet
or your family car this could happen, and let me explain why.
Remember when you got fuel? maybe, just maybe you did not tighten the gas
cap tight. The computer in you car monitors the pressure in the fuel tank,
making sure that gas vapors are not getting out of the tank.
So stop at the next rest area
down the road and check it. If that is the cause, tighten the cap (some click
when properly tightened). If that was the cause of the “check engine” light
coming on, it should turn off in a short time.
If it doesn’t, you may have to
have a mechanic check the computer system to find out the reason for the “check
engine” light.

The Boise Vette Fest for 2005 is July 28, 29, 30 and come home on the 31st. I have fliers on their show with all the info included. If you are interested, call me at 356-8678 and Sam or I will tell you all about the show. We have been going since 1989.
This year some will leave Thursday, July 28th about 9:00 A.M. or so. If you want to caravan over, call me. The host hotel is still the DoubleTree Riverside but we always stay at the Red Lion ParkCenter Suites because it is only $65.00 per night plus taxes compared to theirs at $87.00 per night. Also, we get a mini-suite, use of the hospitality room, roped off “Corvette Parking Only”, hoses to wash our cars, a great continental breakfast, outdoor pool and a hot tub. I have 12 rooms blocked for our club. If you want one, call 1-208-342-1044 and give the booking #4008. Cheryl Perry said to mention that you would be there for the Corvette Show. That will get you the discount rate. Cheryl has been great to us for several years at the Red Lion. Everyone must make his or her own reservations. They will hold these rooms for us only until July 15, and then they will be released to the public.
