Hail from the Chief

By Trish Bargman

It seems like I just wrote the June newsletter. Where does the time go? The nicer the weather the faster summer goes.

Tommy and Allyson have been cleaning up on the auto cross tracks, with Allyson coming in 1st in the women’s class and Tommy 2nd in the men’s. Congratulation!

The first part of June we had the Black Hills trip. Eleven cars made the trip that started out looking like we would have bad weather the whole time. The first day we had six to eight inches of snow on two of the passes. It was beautiful, and the snow was not on the road, so we kept going. The further east we went the better it got. We saw great scenery and had some fun roads to travel. Thanks to everyone that went and made it such a good time.

Peggy Bone is going to put together a Lady’s Bingo night for late July. When she has all the details she will let everyone know. You can also get in touch with her and let her know if you are interested. The last one was a blast.

We just got home from our ‘date night’. We ate dinner at the Firehouse Grill and then decided not to go to a movie so we went for a drive up to ‘windmill hill’ and then back to town for ice cream. It was a perfect night for a top down drive. The Firehouse Grill is a sponsor for the WWVF 2007.

Tim and Donna Carlson are going to Bozeman, MT, July 28 and 29 to see the Blue Angels. They are going up Friday night, watching the show on Saturday, and coming home after the show. They are willing to let any of us that want to go to tag along. Let’s talk about it some more at the meeting on the 12th. It sounds like fun and always a pretty drive. For more information go to http://www.blueangelsinthebigsky.com/

We had a pretty good turn out for our Scotty’s night and meeting. Scotty’s had free ice cream for us again in four different flavors. We will be back there on July 19th. Scotty’s is a sponsor for the WWVF 2007.

Something that we did last year that was fun was a ladies lunch. Several of us had grandchildren or daughters with us and it was a fun time. So let’s do it again. Friday has been a good day before, so let’s do it on Friday the 20th. We’ll figure out a good place and let you know the where and what time.

There are quite a few members that will be participating in the 4th of July parade in Idaho Falls. A thought that I am stealing from the Marque Club of Seattle for next year is to find a veteran and have him ride with us. The Seattle club does this and calls it Vettes for Vets. It’s too late to put that together for this year, but what do you think for next year?

Update on Vette Fest 2007

By Bill Madsen

Tim, Jim, and Bill went to West Yellowstone June 25th to follow up on plans for the event.  Hotel rooms are going fast, so be sure to get your reservation in.  Our Bozeman friends from Hyalite club are going to marshal the autocross and provide insurance through SCCA.

We are working hard at getting sponsors.  If any of you have an "in" with a business, please ask them for a sponsorship.  Dana and Tim have sponsor letters explaining what we do with the money and what we do for the sponsor. Thanks to our own club members who are graciously offering to sponsor.  Please be looking for door prizes.  We hope each of you can donate some small item.  We can collect them at the next two meetings.

Did You Know

By Connie Lamprecht

Eleven Corvettes, six days, 1750 miles -- what a trip! The trip was to the Black Hills of South Dakota and a lot of Wyoming,  mostly the two lane secondary roads.

Those involved all said it was a great trip. Sorry that other members in the club missed the trip.

The days were very full days starting at about 8:30 AM and ending about 7 PM. Dinner was after that with more visiting.

The radios were great help so Trish could keep us all going in the right direction. Boy was that a chore some times!

There was one small breakdown on Bud’s Vette, but that was fixed and they were able to enjoy the rest of the trip. We took a train ride that went SO FAST that I could have passed it with a riding lawnmower. A couple of Vetters ran a lot with the top down. They should have great tans by now if the red is gone.

This is just another reason to belong to the club.  So thanks go out to Trish and Dick for all the time that went into planning such a good week.

What a ride!
