Hail from the Chief

By Brian Novak

Well, this month has really been what spring should be like, sunny (for the most part) and warm enough to have the top down.  Next meeting will be at Craigos Gourmet Pizza on July 18 at 7:00 pm.  Trish says it is a great place to eat, and I know we all like that!  Some of the ladies had a get-together; I hope it all went well.  Then a spontaneous trip on the 2nd was put together by Connie Lamprecht and the other ladies that met.  (We just got back from Disneyland and were still pooped.)  Looks like there is a drive over Bear Tooth Pass being planned by the Krah's (thanks a bunch!).  In August the Madsen’s are planning a picnic lunch -- more to follow.  It’s been a great summer so far; lets get those cars out and make it even better!  Don't forget Seattle in the fall, and the Utah Grand Prix Corvette Corral for the race July 13-16.  Hope to see all of you there!

Did You Know

By Egon

Ah summertime and the sun is hot -- on you and your Vette.

So you have invested many $$$$$$$$$$$ and you want to keep it as nice as possible. Washing it is number one. Use only car shampoo, not dish soap.

Next protect the finish from the UV rays with a good finish wax. Now I like a product that is called Liquid Glass because it contains no wax or silicones but does a great job. You use the one that you like.

Next, Vettes have leather seats. Man does the sun like to dry them out. Put nothing on them and you’re in for a new $1500 cover for each seat. There are lots of products to choose from. I like Mothers Leather Conditioner. I would recommend at least using some conditioner at least three times during the summer.

Next is the dash. When we got Connie’s Vette it had so much Armor All type product on it that you could not drive into the sun. Got it off and now it’s ok. The bad side of putting anything on the dash is that the product vaporizes and coats the inside of the window.

So take some time between drives and make your “Baby” look great. You will be glad you did.

Great Sunday Drive

By Egon

Sunday, July 2 was a great sunny day. At 10 a.m., 10 Vette club members met at the Relay Station for a great breakfast. After that, with tummies full we followed the leader Dick & Trish on a very interesting backcountry drive.

First stop was the sand dunes west of St Anthony. We kept looking for life flight on a rescue mission, but no such flight. We discovered that all Utah and Idaho people did not go to Island Park for the weekend. Lots of RV’s and folks with 4-wheelers were playing in the sand hills. Next we drove by a large herd of antler elk, all penned up. Hummm, a good place for an elk hunt.

At Beaver Dick Park we split up and went our different ways.

Hope to see more of club members on the next outing.
