Minutes of the December 2003  Meeting

by Barbara Bell

The annual Club Christmas Party was held on December 5th at JJ North’s in Idaho Falls. There were 39 members in attendance, as well as two special guests, Jim Thompson and his wife Joan.

Wayne Valentine, on behalf of the Club, thanked Jim for all the work he does getting the newsletter out each month. Even though he sold his Corvette, he still helps out by doing this. He was presented with a Corvette wall clock in appreciation for his contribution to the Club.

Janet Miller read a thank you note from the family of Brent Bell, sponsor who died suddenly last month. The Club sent flowers.

President Bill Waters reported that the State had notified him that the Club’s share of the Corvette license plates sold this year would be $2000.

Bruce Barton said that he negotiated a contract with the Convention Center in West Yellowstone for the ‘Vette Fest’ for the next ten years. The deal will ensure that we will have a place for the event in West on the same weekend in August without taking a chance of getting booted out as we almost did this year. If we wish to go somewhere else, the only thing we have to do is notify them within 30 days of the closing of a show to cancel the next year’s reservation. He asked for a vote as to whether he should obligate the Club to this. The Club passed it unanimously. Bill Waters thanked Bruce for getting this done for the Club.

On Sunday, December 10th at 10 a.m. at the Rexburg Wal-Mart, the Club will shop for the families for Christmas.

We had a gift exchange, and hopefully Santa was watching so that he now knows who was naughty and who was nice when it came to stealing other people’s gifts!

Bill called for volunteers to serve as an election committee. Trish, Sam, Linda, Randy, and Tommy volunteered. Elections will take place next month.

Elections!!!

We will be holding our election of officers at the January xx meeting at Gringo’s in Rexburg. We have some very worthy members who have said they will run for offices for this next year.

Ron Bone is running so far unopposed for President. For the last few years Ron has planned our road trips and will continue with this, as he has already done quite a bit of planning on at least one special trip for this summer. Ron has also served as Secretary for the Club. Ron and Peggy have helped with Wild West Vette Fest for many years in several different capacities.

Tommy Taylor is also running unopposed for Vice President. Tommy has been in the Club for several years and has always answered the call when asked to help in any way. Tommy was on so many committees for the Wild West Vette Fest that it would take too long to list them all.

Barbara Bell is running unopposed for reelection as Secretary. Barbara stepped in last year when our Secretary moved to Boise. She has done a great job. Barbara and Frank have also been a great help with the Wild West Vette Fest. They were on several committees.

Renata Waters is running for reelection as Treasurer. Renata has been Treasurer for the past year. Renata and Bill have also worked on the Wild West Vette Fest for many years in many different capacities.

Connie Lamprecht is also running for the office of Treasurer. Connie and Egon have been in the Club for more than 10 years and helped also on the Wild West Vette Fest in many ways. Connie is also a past President.

Linda Moore is running for Activity Chair. Linda and Richard have been in the Club 10 years and served in many capacities, including President, Show Chairs, and past Activity Chair.

We will have a ballot with room for write-in votes, so don’t be shy. It is your Club and your input and help is always valued.
