The Prez Box
by Ron Bone
It was hard to be
upbeat as we went into the annual elections for club officers. Having been totally unsuccessful in a search
for willing candidates, I feared the worst.
But I found out at the January meeting that my worries were for
naught. It seems that some little elves
had been at work in the background, quietly filling in the ballot slots. We are fortunate and privileged to have these
ladies serving our club. I couldn’t
begin to guess how many cumulative years they’ve served in the past, but
suffice it to say that their resumes are replete.
Connie Lamprecht,
our new Treasurer, is a past president and has volunteered for many ad-hoc
jobs, including working on the annual show.
Trish Bargman, who will be sharing the Activities chair, is also a past
President and has
served untold years doing registrations and general ambassadorial duties for
our annual show. She also puts together
a terrific long road trip as well as short stints of bird watching. Debbie Morris, who will also be sharing the
Activities chair, was the Treasurer for several years, as well as, along with
Richard, Co-Chair and Chair for our annual show. Peggy Bone, our new Secretary, has been
cheerfully helping with the duties of the Secretary and of the President, and
of working on the annual show, while I shamelessly took all the credit. It would not have been even remotely possible
without her.
Thanks to all these
ladies, our club has new life. They’re
all very busy, but they’re taking time to serve the club. Even though they’ve done it before. We all owe them a considerable debt of
gratitude.
At the same time,
I’m in no way diminishing the work of our departing officers. Renata Waters, our departing Treasurer, did
the job for two years. Even while
building a new house and holding down a full time job as a nurse. Now how do you spell S-T-R-E-S-S? Linda Moore, our departing Activities chair,
organized several fun activities for us, despite being on travel a good part of
the summer. Barbara Bell, our departing
Secretary, holds the record for the longest set of minutes in recent
history. Thanks, ladies, for all your hard
work.
Finally, I must
acknowledge our newsletter editor, Jim Thompson. Jim is like the Energizer Bunny: he just
keeps going, and going, and going…
Thanks, Jim, for serving silently behind the scenes to get the
newsletter out on time. We’re all
enriched and united by your efforts.
It may not be
obvious, except in retrospect, but we are now preparing to leave a
trailhead. At the other end of the trail
is our goal: Wild West Vette Fest
2005. At first the trail is
deceptively easy, with lots of shade and interesting diversions. Later comes the steep climbing out in the open. There’s a certain amount of load that has to
be carried to make it to the top. The
more packs we have to divide the load between, the easier the trip will be for
everyone. Our guides, Bill and Dana
Madsen, are ready to get organized. Why
not call them to see what you can do?
You’ll find that we’ll have fun along the way and you’ll have a great
feeling next Christmas when appreciative needy families are receiving the
fruits of your efforts.

It’s that time of the year again. Annual dues are $25 and are due by the March

Did You Know
by Egon
I know this a car club
newsletter, but this time I want to address another subject.
The subject is home, car, and
business security. We live in a world of “Bad Guys” who like to take from you
every chance they get. They like breaking in and entering you home, business,
or vehicle.
Now you can go out and get a
big-dollar alarm system, and tie it into the police dept. That is the best
deal. However, let me suggest another plan. Go to Radio Shack and
purchase “Home Security Warning Labels (part # 49-507). They come in a pack of
four. They say “WARNING protected by 24 hour Security System.”
Now place them on entry doors and
maybe some windows. Your car may also need one. The bottom line is that now the
“Bad Guy” isn’t sure you do or don’t have an alarm system. In most cases it
will detour the “Bad Guy”.
It’s worth the cost of the labels
to try.
Club to Choose Show Logo at Valentine’s
Brunch
by Ron Bone
It’s time to decide
what our logo for Wild West Vette Fest 2005 should look like. The theme this year is Bears and (Tim &
Lisa Hobley’s) 1971 Stingray Corvette.
The color of their car is difficult to describe, but light purple
probably comes close. Too bad we can’t
capture the lopey idle of that tall camshaft in the logo.
If you would like to
submit a drawing or a graphic for the showing, we would really like to see your
vision. Bring it to the Valentine’s
Brunch at Denney’s Restaurant on February 12, 2005 at 10:00 A.M.
