Hail from the Chief

By Lynn McKinlay

This evening Betty and I had an enjoyable time together with many friends.  The meal was also a nice treat. As we were driving home we had a memorable visit about the many great times we have had over the past four years. It has truly been fun meeting new friends and enjoying the new activities.   We are looking forward to what the future holds with wind in the hair and rubber on the road. Ah! Lynn what hair? Oh! That would be wind in Betty's hair and the Corvettes rubber on the road.

I am looking forward to this coming year in the Corvettes of Southeast Idaho.

This past summer I took a class called "The Comprehensive Literacy Course". In the class we had the opportunity to read a considerable amount.  I have given some thought to a statement made by Michael Jordan in his book Michael Jordan on the Pursuit of Excellence: "I can't accept not trying."  I do not view this book as one that will stand the acid test of time, but the thought will help many drive onward and upward toward lofty goals.

I see Corvettes of Southeast Idaho continuing toward lofty goals. I did not reach my growth goal of one hundred members, but "I can't accept not trying".

Some of my goals were reached with your help.  We served more families and seniors at Christmas time. Thank you. It is a great honor to have been of service to you.

Minutes from the

January 2002

Meeting

By Betty McKinlay

The Corvette Club met Thursday, January 10th at Remo's in Idaho Falls at 7 p.m.  There were 38 members present.

President Lynn McKinlay called the meeting to order.  Linda Moore was first on the agenda.  She encouraged those interested in helping with the Vette Fest to stay after to discuss the Show.  Positions need to be filled for the Show.

Linda reminded everyone that next month the Logo is due at the Sweetheart Breakfast.  Linda suggested putting big sponsors in the newsletter and sending complimentary newsletters to them.  This would remind the Club to do business with them. Linda Moore made the motion and Ron Bone seconded.  All were in favor.

Trish Bargman mentioned the Seattle Club supports us and we should try to support them.  Their show is over Labor Day Weekend.  Trish also discussed the Christmas Shopping.  Trish mentioned that a date needs to be set for the California trip either in July or October.  She handed out a questionnaire on what we wanted to do on the trip.

Vice President Wayne Valentine and Tommy Taylor discussed purchasing a PA system.  Dave Gomez said he has a system in his house.  All he needs is a way to haul it.  That took care of the PA system.

Todd Packer discussed doing activities with Big Brother, Big Sister programs.  He suggested having a picnic with them. Judy Hobbs motioned and Pam Packer seconded.  All were in favor.  Randy Wagner suggested getting some canopies for the Club to take to the Vette Fest.

Brian Novak passed out the list of offices and candidates for the coming year to be voted on.  They were as follows:

                         Randy Wagner

                         Bill Waters

While the votes were being counted, Randy discussed the experience they had with the Dare Program in "Dress for Success" and taking the kids to school in the Corvettes.  Other schools wondered why they didn't do it.  It will become an annual thing.

The following are the new officers for the year 2002:

Congratulations!!

Past President Lynn McKinlay passed the gavel on to Randy Wagner.

Our next meeting will be at North's on February 10th for the Sweetheart Valentine's Breakfast starting at 10 a.m.

Randy thanked everyone for voting for him.

October will be the California trip for 7 days.

 Adjourned at 9:10 p.m.

Thanks for letting me be your Club Secretary.  It has been an enjoyable year.

Say Goodby!

Hello Corvette Friends! Last year Judy and I took on the challenge of developing property up in the Mountains behind Lava Hot Springs. We have started a project that leaves us little down time on the highways and byways of Corvette's of SE Idaho. Judy and I have very much enjoyed our two short years spent in the club, and will miss the friendship, fun, and events. It was a wonderful experience that we will now have to set aside for a few years.

Thanks for the memories, Best Wishes to everyone for a great year.
