November Meeting Minutes

By Bev Novak

The meeting was held November 16 at the Sugar Factory Smokehouse. There were 25 members present.

Kelly wanted to know how many drove their Corvettes. No one did!

Rick Stiles has a buddy who owns a detail shop and he showed him how to clean his car. Because many people are interested in showing their cars at the Montana show, Rick thought it would be a good idea to have a get-together at Taylor Chevrolet on March 10 to learn how to detail their cars.

Richard and Debbie Morris are the show chair-people for 2001 Wild West Vette Fest. It was suggested we start getting
sponsors early. A letter will be prepared to give to the sponsors.

We need nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, and Activities Chairperson. It would be nice if people would volunteer. Sam Miller suggested Jack Larsen and Farrell Davidson. Lynn McKinlay has also shown an interest for President. Kelly said to show up at the January meeting if you don't want to be nominated!

The Christmas party will be held December 9 at 7 p.m. It will be at the Relay Station in St. Anthony. People would like to see the gift exchange where you pass the gift to the left and right. The Gift exchange should be from $10 - $20.

We decided to adopt a couple of families for Christmas. Trish Bargman will lead the group this year. We will go shopping on December 3rd at 9:00 a.m . Meet at Shopko in Idaho Falls if you want to help. Carol Merrill and Trish bounced some ideas about stocking stuffers on their way back from Denver. They thought we could get them at Honks or Greenbacks. Sam Miller suggested Shampoo.

Chris Elmore was in the hospital with a brain aneurysm. Terry was not sure on the results of the cat scan. Flowers will be sent to Chris if she is not in the Intensive Care Unit. Flowers also need to be sent to Dale and Deena Larsen in remembrance of a sister that passed away.

The name tags were done, but when Dick Bargman went to pick them up, instead of saying Corvettes of Southeast Idaho, they said "car club".

Brian Novak still has hats. Give him a call if you want one (522-3076).

Kelly wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving and the meeting was adjourned.

Santa's Helpers Needed

Shopping for our families, kids, and seniors will be Sunday morning at 9:00 AM at Shopko. We have approximately $2500 to spend thanks to our sponsors, and participants at the Wild West Vette Fest this last August. Every female is invited to participate in this fun and heartwarming event.

We will shop at Shopko (they will give us an additional 15% discount) and then go to Bev and Brian Novak's to wrap and tag the presents. This usually takes about until 1:00 PM, but with more help we could get done sooner. Please bring a pair of sissors; we will have everything else we need, and the club will provide lunch, if we are still busy wrapping at noon. This is a very fun and worthwhile thing to do and we welcome ALL who can to come and join us.

Thanks, Trish

CORSA

Performance

Hello Corvettes of Southeast Idaho.

I want to take this opportunity to introduce CORSA Performance. We are a manufacturer of stainless-steel exhaust products for C5 Corvettes and fourth generation Corvette applications. Three years ago we introduced stainless-steel exhaust tips for the C5 and, after spending several months of R&D time, we introduced an exhaust system for the C5 in 1998 and systems for C4's we made available late last year.

We would like to learn more about your Corvette club and your members to determine what opportunities might exist in providing information that might be of interest to your members. If you agree, we would like to include you on our list to receive new product announcements, press releases, club purchase incentives as well as future CORSA Performance information.

Also, we have added a Corvette Club "links" page on our Web site with several clubs already listed. If you have a club Web site and are interested in linking each other's site, including logos, please let me know. I would like to invite you to visit our site at www.corsaperf.com.

If you would take a moment to complete the information form below and e-mail it back, this will assist in adding your club to our distribution list. Also, if possible, would you forward a copy of your latest newsletter this will help familiarize us with your club and members.

Thank you for your time and consideration and feel free to contact us at any time. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Tom Miller

WE'RE BACK

By Ben Sanchez

Well, sort of anyway. It's hard to believe that five years have passed since we said our goodbyes and left for Bella Napoli. It was tough leaving our friends, home, and everything that was familiar to us to live in a foreign country. And, believe it or not, it was tough leaving Italy to return to the U.S.

The first year we were gone, a group of club members, 11 to be exact, came to tour Europe and managed to spend a few days with us. It was three days of seeing everything within a day's drive of our home in Naples. We went to Pompeii, Caserta Vecchia, the Amalfi Coast, and Sorrento and then they were on their way. We hated to see them go because we were still unsure of ourselves and had very few friends that we could even communicate with. Life was different and we realized that we were going to have to adapt and accept a new culture and life style to be able to enjoy our stay. Nevertheless, it was good to have friends keeping in touch with us to let us know what was going on back home. In retrospect, our time spent in Europe will be one of the highlights of our life and we wouldn't have missed it.

Throughout the time we were gone we always kept in contact with club members and even managed to attend Wild West Vette Fest 1999. We could see a lot of changes with the club too. There were many members that we didn't recognize and almost everybody we knew had a different Vette than when we had left. The club was also better organized and really knew how to put on a first class show. This was readily apparent. It didn't take us too long to get back in the groove and before we knew it we were involved in the registration and funkhana. There were a few who didn't take notice and then realized that it really was us at the show.

A lot has changed with us too. Those who attended our "Arriverderci Party," will remember Amanda, our daughter, as a young silly teenager. Today she is a young married lady still living in Naples. And, 1 GR8 68 (aka "Old Red") is a memory to be replaced by my dream '62. The '62 now has a stable mate. We, the last of the holdouts, have recently purchased a Polo Green '94 Coupe.

We are now living in Hanford, California and are reestablishing ourselves. We are building a new home, which we hope will be completed by mid-February. That might be wishful thinking on our part. This one should almost have enough garage space with its' 3-car garage maybe not. Hanford is a small community of about 42,000. Anything would seem small to Naples with its' population of 4.5 million.

Although we aren't as close to Idaho and the club as we thought we would be, we plan on remaining as active as we can. So, from time-to-time you will see an article or two from us. We also plan on attending Wild West Vette Fest 2001. So make it a good one!

Remember "Save the Wave" and we'll see you soon.

Place.com

CorvettePlace.com has the most unique online store on the web. We let you select a product category and view products or section by photos, including part explosions. This is the easiest way to shop for a Corvette part on the Internet. (Most stores give you long lists in a spreadsheet style and you can't find what you are looking for.) We also carry over 18,000 products just for Corvettes, which is about the best selection in the country. Our items are not available at your local parts store, so stop by for the most products and the easiest way to shop.

Help Please!

This is just a reminder about the car show.  We still need committee chairpersons.

Also have your logo's ready for the Sweetheart Brunch in February.  We would appreciate your input on the car show, so if you have any suggestions please call Richard or Debbie Morris or Rich or Linda Moore.  We need your support and input.
