Minutes of the November 2003  Meeting

by Barbara Bell

The November meeting was held on the 12th at the Sizzler in Idaho Falls at 7 p.m. There were 32 members present.

Bill Waters announced that Jim and Judy Hobbs were not going to be able to co-chair the Vette Fest next year, and that Bill and Dana Madsen had accepted taking on those responsibilities.

Sam Miller thanked the Club for their support last year by donating money to Shriner’s for the shotgun raffle. He asked if the Club would be willing to donate money for a shotgun for a Shriner’s raffle again this

year. Also, if possible, he would like to upgrade the quality of the gun. After some discussion the Club voted to donate $400 to the Shriner’s for the purchase of a gun to raffle.

Bill reported that we have five families to help for the annual Christmas Project. They are from St. Anthony, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, and West Yellowstone. The Club plans to spend $2500 on the families, which works out to about $100 per person. We will also donate turkeys to the food bank.

Trish Bargman asked about elections. Bill stated that a committee will contact people about running and that those accepting to run will be announced in January. The Christmas Party will be held at JJ Norths on Friday, December 5th at 7 p.m. Everyone should bring a $10.00 gift for exchange. Cost per person for the meal, including tip, is $9.

Meeting adjourned at 8:05.

Did You Know

By Egon

We purchased something the other day that is neat. A Satellite Radio unit! Now this is great for car and home. It plugs into the cassette in the car, and the home kit plugs into your home music system. It has 100 channels of music, news, and information -- classic, rock, easy listening, etc. Most of it is without someone trying to sell you something.

The sound is great!

Now, just so you don’t think we live in a free world, the monthly fee for this service is about 10 bucks. But I think it is worth the price. A lot of new cars have a radio that will receive satellite, after you pay the fee of course.

So, if you want a unit that the station will ot fade away in the middle of Nevada or Yellowstone, this would be it. Oh, it might fade out in a tunnel, but how much time do you spend in a tunnel.

Just something you might want to consider!

From Christmas Past

CHRISTMAS 2001

We will divide into groups and shop, shop, shop. I hope Fred Meyers is up for us. We have been known to completely take over a store, in a good way of course. We have eight families to provide Christmas for this year. The families are from Idaho Falls, Rexburg, St Anthony and Driggs.

Thirteen ladies, two special helpers, and two gentlemen met at Shopko at 9 AM and shopped until we had spent $2800!!!

CHRISTMAS  2002

We had five families and four seniors to take care of this year. When we say we do Christmas for these families, we do everything, including a tree and decorations (if needed), stockings, and as many ‘extras’ as we can . . .
