Hail from the Chief

By Lynn McKinlay

This has been a very eventful month. Our North and South Sponsor people have been going great guns. We are now looking at $300- to $500-sponsors at our eating establishments. As a philosopher once said, and I paraphrase, "Onward and upward". (Yes, I know that is out of context and not a total phrase.)

As we grow we must remember our current and past sponsors. The $50 eating establishments may become trophy sponsors. That is part of growth. Our country did grow beyond the horse and buggy.

The meeting at Taco Time was great. We not only had good food and company, but also lots of participation. We have busy times ahead.

We are in a period of growth and change in thinking. Our growth tonight was

Dave Gomez and Tamera McKenna.

Our sponsors are also getting larger. We will not experience growth without change. We are willing to change but with caution. That is part of what makes our club so great. Change for change sake is foolhardy. At the same time without change we will stagnate. We know that the botany people like the botany ponds, but most of us do not. After a pond stands, without inlets and outlets, it becomes a dead sea -- a baron, desolate, waste. Most prefer the clean flowing water. It promotes crop growth, fishing, recreation, Corvettes, etc.

I have asked Brian to send Jim a copy of the bylaws to be put in this month's newsletter. The bylaws are the instrument that governs this club. Read them, study them, and make sure they will allow you as a great body of people to grow and achieve what you desire. You have the tools; it is your club, where do you want it to go?

We have the knowledge. We can build a bionic man. Then came the bionic woman. That was a couple of great TV shows.

YOU CANNOT TEACH A MAN ANYTHING; YOU CAN ONLY HELP HIM FIND IT WITHIN HIMSELF.

Galileo

That is all from the Bald Eagle this month.

Minutes from the July

Meeting

By Betty McKinlay

We met at Taco Time in Rexburg at 7 p.m. There were 35 members in attendance.

President Lynn McKinlay introduced David Gomez and Tamera McKenna as new members to the Club.

Bill Waters, who is chairman of the one-day trips, mentioned going to Indian Springs in Rockland. No date has been set yet. Farrell and Darlene Davidson presented Bill and Renata with a wedding gift from the Club. Congratulations Bill and Renata!

Farrell discussed the Bear Tooth Run. They are leaving at 6:00 a.m.

President Lynn mentioned that the bylaws say if we don't elect someone to fill an office in January, that it should be done in February. It was never done. We need an Activities Chairperson. Wanda Hughes nominated Marvin and Mary Kay Bennett to fill the position. Bill Waters seconded. All were in favor. They immediately set a date for the roadside cleanup. It will be September 16. We will meet at the rest area at 9 a.m. at milepost number 105. Mary Kay discussed the Albuquerque trip. Registration is due August 11th.

Randy Wagner discussed the sponsors he has gotten for the club. Ken and Linda Olsen contributed to the sponsors.

Wingers will sponsor $300 and Texas Roadhouse will sponsor $250 this year and $500 next year. Fred Meyer has sponsored $500. President Lynn will schedule a meeting at Wingers and Texas Roadhouse in the next few months.

Jack Larsen made a motion to go to Scotty's the rest of the year and then go to Wingers next year. Bill Waters seconded. All were in favor.

President Lynn thanked Randy for all the work he has done to get these sponsors. Good job, Randy!

Only two hats are left. If you want one see Brian Novak.

Brian will send the bylaws to Jim to put in the newsletter. President Lynn encouraged everyone to read them.

Janet Miller mentioned the Taylor Chevrolet Show August 11th and cruise afterward. Hot Rod Café will be there to video the event.

Trish Bargman and Linda Moore said the Show Committee was going to West Yellowstone on Monday, July 16th if anyone would like to go with them. There are no more rooms left at the Grey Lodge. Yellowstone Lodge has some rooms. There are 57 cars registered for the show. Richard Moore is going to West Yellowstone July 24th if anyone wants to go with him. The deadline for the major sponsors is July 15, and for the trophy sponsors it is July 25th.

Secretary Betty McKinlay mentioned Iona Days July 19, 20, and 21. There will be no car show this year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m. There was a request for a cruise around Rexburg. Vice President Wayne Valentine led the run. We drove to Beaver Dick Park, turned north to Plano, past my parent's house across from Ferguson's, through Hibbard, and back to Rexburg. Thanks, Wayne. It was a fun run.
