Made cosmetic changes to tetoncam.com - a "lighter" look with more white space.

I have added a new viewing option for the panoramic Tetoncam image. Check it out at http://grandtetonimaging.com/panfader.html.
Be sure to try the other viewing options while you are there. The Time-Lapse feature takes some time to load but the animation can be very interesting depending on the weather and cloud cover. Friday, October 22, 2004
You may have noticed periodic problems with the weather station. I believe this was due to a faulty data-logger module. I just replaced this module and hope the station will be more reliable.
I have had several questions about the weather station. I use a Davis Weather Monitor II station. The data is displayed and graphs generated by "Weather Monitor 2.1." The rainfall measurment is unreliable. I think the problem is the constant freezing of the rain-gauge and the long winters the gauge has endured. The other data seems to be pretty accurate. Tetoncam has a new panoramic camera which is updated every 5 minutes. It is available on the Grand Teton Imaging page and you can check it out here. Your browser may scale the image down. If so just click the expand button in the lower right corner to see this image at full resolution. On the left of the image is Grand Targhee so this should be helpful during the ski season. Let me know what you think at jpat@srv.net.

Here's a shot of a rainbow over Grand Targhee. Look closely and you can see the sun light reflecting off of the Deamcatcher and Shoshone lift poles. Next to it is a picture of the Grand through some wild flowers.
Check out the whole gallery as well as larger versions of the above pictures at: Tetoncam Galleries Tuesday, May 18, 2004
Archival quality panoramic prints of the Grand Teton Mountains are now available for sale! Click here for more information.

I have just added a new gallery (number 7) and new panoramas of Grand Targhee's backside, Jacque Peak in Colorado, Cooper Mountain, and Steamboat Springs. You can click on the link from here or get to them from the main Tetoncam page and select "Gallery."
I hope that you enjoy these additions. Friday, November 14, 2003
I have just noticed that one of the servers which houses many of the images for tetoncam is down. The photo album and panoramas are stored there. Hopefully cableone will have it up soon!

The ISP on whose server Tetoncam resides had a major hardware failure. This left Tetoncam off line for a day and a half. Hopefully we are now up to stay.

The last week or so the moon has been rising over the Grand in the late afternoon. Here is an image caught by the webcam a few days ago...
And here is an composite image I took from the Teton view turnout on Highway 33. The moon is placed approximately were it would appear the late afternoon just before the webcam image.... ![]() I was hoping to get a shot of the Lunar Eclipse rising over the Grand but alas, it was cloudy in Teton Valley. Here is a picture of the eclipse taken by Jim Edlin from Idaho Falls... Saturday, November 08, 2003
Had a wonderful day in Teton Valley on 6 Nov. 2003 taking a few pictures. The hawks were everywhere and the mountains were thrilling. I have added a few images to the photo album and a new composite panorama. Have a look.

I just added a tetoncam.com photo album which contains misc. photos from the past few years. You can see it here or by going to the gallery page.
What can I say? I love the mountains. I've just posted some new panoramas of Teton Canyon and Swan Valley taken a week ago. The fall colors are beautiful in the area this year. I've also posted panoramas of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Cache Valley, Utah and Salzburg and Hallstatt, Austria. They all can be found on the "Animation and Time-Lapse" page at Tetoncam.com. I hope that you enjoy them.

Just posted a new panorama from Mauna Kea. This is the same one as the quicktimeVR one below but uses a java applet for display. The file size is much smaller. Mauna Kea panorama

Well it is not really about the Tetons but it is a big mountain! I just got back from a visit to the big island of Hawaii. While were there we to the trek from sea level to the top of Mauna Kea at 13796 ft. (26 ft. taller than the Grand Teton). This is a replica of the Bench Mark on top...
![]() Below is a link to a QuicktimeVR panorama I took from the top. It is fairly high res. so be sure to zoom in (in - shift key, out - ctrl key) and pan around. The mountains in the distance are Mauna Loa also on the island of Hawaii and Haleakala on the island of Maui. Four of the 10 telescopes in the world with mirrors larger than 8 meters reside on Mauna Kea. Be sure to notice the twin Keck domes which house the largest scopes in the world. The file is over a 1 Mbyte so it will take a while to load. Have paience! If you don't have Quicktime you can download it for free from Apple. Mauna Kea
